WORK EXPERIENCE
2005-Present
Rocklin, CA
Software Consultant
Responsible for producing advanced business forms for direct laser printers and email. The forms are output as pure PostScript or PCL code which codings are native to most laser printers and email. Examples are invoices, quotations, packing lists, etc. The forms contain placeholders for merging customer business data into the forms. The forms support color, watermarks, signature graphics, barcodes, and control of every printable dot (pixel) on the page. Author of a powerful application (in Real Basic/Xojo) with a graphical WYSIWYG user interface, comprising more than 10,000 lines of code, to allow easy page layout and design. A basic brochure is on line here. A more recent update on signatures and barcodes is available here.
1995-2002
Rancho Cordova, CA
Staff Scientist and Consultant
Responsible for laboratory research in microwave and synthetic aperture acoustic detection and imaging of objects buried in sand and soils for gas utility industry. Programmed and developed extensive LABVIEW data acquisition software and instrumentation, using 16-bit 100KHz ADC and DAC I/O boards or better. Performed extensive programming for advanced data analysis in LABVIEW and also in FORTRAN and C, including Fourier analysis and image processing. Primary author of successful proposals for more than $500,000 in R&D funding in 4 years. Worked as a consultant in 2000 and 2001.
1987-Present
Various Locations
Consulting Engineer
Designer of remote protocols for computer controlled instruments. Author of three patents, including art work, on very high speed digital data transmission methodologies. Author of SBIR proposals for federal engineering/scientific research. Engineering developer of a high performance digital signal correlation board. Experience in HTML and web page design. Optical Instrumentation Engineer at Apache Point Observatory, NM; Summer (1992) Faculty Associate, U. S. Army White Sands Missile Range, NM; Consulting Engineer, Caltech-Owens Valley Radio Observatory.
1990-1994
